Captain Disaster: The Dark Side of the Moon now on Itch

For those who like PDF rather than Mobi, I have released the short story Captain Disaster: The Dark Side of the Moon on Itch.io.  It's slightly cheaper than the Kindle version at $1.25, and there's also a free chapter available.

Captain Disaster sleep-walks his way onto a moon with a terrible secret. Will he escape the danger, find help from the moon's inhabitants, and manage to endure the many dreadful puns, and manage to get back home?

This short story of 10.5K words is based on the point and click adventure game of the same name, but with a few differences thrown in to make things more interesting, and to include more character interaction. The humour never leaves the page but this is also a story with heart. Fans of classic science fiction books, movies, TV series etc will spot numerous references - some subtle, some less so - including Dr Who, Terrahawks, Star Trek and many others. There are several references that point and click adventure game fans will recognise too.

In summary, ideal readers of this ebook will be sci-fi fans who like a laugh, don't take things terribly seriously and ideally are also fans of the point and click genre.

That's Not Fair! - paperback version released

After a lot of fiddling around to get things just right, along with my Artist, Antoni Langen, I am happy to announce that the paperback version of our children's book "That's Not Fair!" is not available to buy.

It's here! - and it's NOT FAIR...

Now available on Amazon - "That's Not Fair!".

Amazon US

We will be releasing a paperback version, but possibly not until next month.

Her'es a quick peek at 4 of the pages (16 pages as per listing on Amazon, but each effectively a double-page - we laid it out horizontally for artistic reasons - some pages as split into 2, as seen in  pages below, and others are merged into one.):

"Up, Down and in the Middle" released

You know the love poetry collection I've been talking about?  I've only gone and released the thing.  As is my wont I have priced it at the lowest possible point, 99p, since it's quite short (41 pages) and I don't feel people should be asked to pay big amounts for small works.

As always, available on Amazon for Kindle.

New Release - "Outside, Inside" poetry collection

Outside, Inside is a poetry collection that looks at the human condition - as a group "outside" and as the individual "inside". It features a range of poetry styles and lengths and deals with issues such as racism, pollution, life and death, depression (as well as a smattering of more whimsical poems to counterbalance all the seriousness!). Includes the 115-line poem "The Test: An Allegory" and the 167-line poem "Inside a Tormented Mind". (In terms of the poetry I've ever written, those are about as "epic" as I get!)

Released! Captain Disaster: The Damaris Touch

Answering distress calls can be a tricky business, as Captain Disaster has found out before - but he's a good-hearted individual so of course he answers yet another one. At first there doesn't seem to be any danger, just a couple of odd aliens with a unique business plan - but things soon take a turn for the worst as it emerges that they are not alone on the planet.

Captain Disaster: The Dark Side of the Moon - RELEASED!

Okay, initially I was going to release this for free but I couldn't find an option on Amazon's self-publishing platform to let me do this, and then I thought... you know what, it's a fun story, it's a decent length, why shouldn't it be worth 99p?  So... that's the price I've set (the lowest allowed).  Kind of freaks me out the way Amazon intermittently changes between forcing me to name a USD price or a GBP price, maybe I'm doing something wrong... at any rate that's the price, a penny less than a pound, or currently $1.23.

So basically, what we have here is a comedy science fiction short story based on a computer game I'd previously made (available from GameJolt and completely free).  Captain Disaster awakes on a mysterious planet only to find that he's sleep-walked through an open Stargate, which has now closed behind him, with the controls on this side apparently not working.  He needs to find a way to get it working so he can go home, but there's something sinister about this moon and he gets drawn into a battle against a great evil, with only the most dubious of allies at his side...
